East River is a small, coastal community located near the historic seaside village of Chester on Nova Scotia’s beautiful South Shore, along the scenic Lighthouse Route.
There are sandy beaches nearby including Meisner, Cook’s and also Bayswater. The city of Halifax is 45 minutes’ drive; the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Old Town Lunenburg, Mahone Bay and picturesque Peggy’s Cove are also within driving distance.
The area is excellent for kayaking, canoeing, sailing or fishing. It’s also a great location for bird watching, hiking, trail walking and cycling, as well as coastal exploring.
